INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS FOR D.A.M.E LSS501/502 SUPPLEMENT TO LSS+

The installation files are contained in LSS501. This is NOT an auto executing program. You must manually select the Setup file and double-click to begin the installation process.

The D.A.M.E. supplement to the Locksmith and Government editions of LSS+ is comprised of two volumes, LSS501 and LSS502. These can be installed as part of the full LSS+ set, or separately. The installation process is straightforward and closely follows that described for the full version of LSS+. A separate license must be obtained for each computer. The procedure requires that you complete the following steps, as similarly described in the Software Installation section elsewhere in this tutorial.

NOTE: If you already have installed the full version of LSS+, there is a simplified method to install the supplement. This note is only valid on LSS+ Versions 4.05 and 5.0.

To add the DAME supplement, you must copy a file called DAME.LCF to your hard drive. This is found on LSS501 in the LCF subdirectory. This is hidden, so  you must enable the ability to view hidden files. To do this, click TOOLS + FOLDER OPTIONS + VIEW + HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS and select SHOW HIDDEN FILES AND FOLDERS. Then click APPLY. Copy the DAME.LCF file on LSS501 to C:\PROGRAM FILES\LSSPLUS. Once you have copied this file to the proper sub-directory, you need to obtain an unlock code. This procedures requires you to double-click on the DAME.LCF file, which will display the following screen.

You may then right click on RECEIVE TELEPHONE UPDATE, click NEXT and a challenge code will be displayed. Copy this code by highlighting it and pressing CTRL C. Paste the code into an email and send to mwtobias@security.org. BE SURE TO LEAVE THE LICENSE UPDATE FILE OPEN UNTIL YOU RECEIVE AN UNLOCK CODE. The unlock code will be sent to you. Copy it and then PASTE it into the next blank window, then click NEXT once. This will display the license status, which should say ENABLED. Then clock FINISH. You may then insert the LSS501 CD ROM into your drive and select it to view the different video files. If you wish to view LSS502, then first open and launch LSS501, remove the disk, and insert LSS502. Then click FILE + OPEN, select the CD ROM drive and click on LSS502. This procedure only applies if you do not wish to copy the contents of the disks to your hard drive and have them show up under LSS+ INFOBASE menu item.

1. Load LSS501 into your CD ROM drive;

2. Select the CD ROM drive from MY COMPUTER;

3. Click on SETUP.EXE to run the install routine. All files on the CD are shown. The correct setup file is the icon that shows a picture of a computer.

4. Install the SOFTWARE only, or the SOFTWARE and DATA. The software requires about 30 MB; the Data requires approximately 430 MB.

5. You DO NOT need to back up files;

6. If your computer is connected to the Internet on a DSL or broadband connection, the program will take you directly to the on-line tour at the end of installation. If not, it will attempt to connect and indicate it failed. Close the Internet program by "x" in the upper right hand corner of the screen.  Then click FINISH, and close the window that displays the contents of LSS501;

7. A program group named LSS+ INFOBASE is created in the Start + All Programs menu. There are four sub-menus. Select UPGRADE LICENSE BY PHONE by left click;

From ALL PROGRAMS, select the LSS+ Infobase menu.

8. A large window will appear, labeled FOLIO RIGHTS BROWSER - DAME. It contains a smaller window, labeled DAME. There are two entries that show a directory and sub-directory, both named DAME. RIGHT CLICK on the sub-directory. This will display two accessible headings: LICENSE PROPERTIES and RECEIVE TELEPHONE UPDATE;

9. Select RECEIVE TELEPHONE UPDATE and another window, named INTRODUCTION will appear. Click NEXT;

10. The window is named SEND CHALLENGE. This code must be emailed to mwtobias@security.org. If you do not have a computer connection, you may call the toll free number on the disk for assistance. This challenge key is unique to your computer. It will only work if you LEAVE THE PROGRAM OPEN until you receive the unlock code response. You can COPY the challenge key by insuring that your cursor is at the beginning of the string of letters, then press SHIFT and END at the same time. This will highlight the string. Then press CTRL C to copy it. Open a new e-mail and PASTE the code into the body by pressing CTRL V. Then send the e-mail. When you receive a response, proceed as follows;

11. Click NEXT to show a blank window, then PASTE the challenge key that you have received by e-mail by entering CTRL V. The response will appear in the window.

Click NEXT once, and WAIT for the system to respond. If a valid code has been entered, an enabled license will be displayed. Be certain there are no spaces in the code that you entered or pasted into the window. If you made a mistake, you can click BACK and re-enter the code.

Click FINISH to complete the installation process, then close the window. You can launch the program by going back to the START MENU, ALL PROGRAMS, and LSS+ INFOBASE. Click LSS501 to launch that disk, or insert LSS502 into the CD ROM drive, or click on the LSS502.NFO file in the LSSPLUS subdirectory.

NOTES: You may view the contents of each CD by placing them in the CD ROM drive and clicking on the file name LSS501.NFO or LSS502.NFO. If you have a high speed CD drive, then the video files will play directly from the CD without a problem. You may also COPY one or both files to your hard drive. In the software installation, if you selected INSTALL SOFTWARE and PROGRAM, then LSS501 is automatically copied to C:\program files\lssplus. You may also copy LSS502 into this same sub-directory.

You may open LSS501 through the main Start Menu, under LSS+ INFOBASE. There is a bug with the LSS502 link. If you select this, it will show an error, then LSS502. You may then click on LSS502 and it will open.

If you open LSS501 through the main program menu, then wish to view a file on LSS502, you can place LSS502 in the CD ROM drive, then clock FILE OPEN from the Views program, and select the CD ROM drive and click on LSS502.NFO.

LSS501 and LSS502 have not been integrated into the  normal license that is associated with the Locksmith or Government version until 5.1 is issued. You MUST obtain a separate license for these two disks, even though you may have purchased a full version of LSS+. When Version 5.1 is released, these new disks will be automatically incorporated into the system.
