Horace D. Smith was a master locksmith and safe technician in England for over fifty years. He provided hand drawn, scale diagrams of the major European safe locks, to locksmiths in the UK and throughout Europe.

Horace Smith was the founding member of the Master Locksmiths Association, and the past President and Honorary Fellow of the MLA. In addition, he was the Honorary President of the European Locksmiths Federation, and was a member of ALOA, SAVTA, and Interkey Gesellschaft Europaisher Schlusseldienste e. V.
