It’s 2020. Are you still asking who’s at the door? With Ring video doorbells, their flagship product, we know exactly who’s at the door even if we’re not home through Ring’s mobile application. And because the cameras have speakers and microphones, we can even greet our guests, or tell them to keep walking. Regardless of the guest, if you’re looking to buy a Ring video doorbell, a good time to buy is on Prime Day, which is technically two days, October 13th and the 14th. Well, we’re here to break down the savings you can get on Ring video doorbells on Prime Day, which to us is the happiest day of the year.

FYI: Put October 13th and 14th on your calendar so you don’t forget it this year!

Ring Video Doorbell Fun Facts

Even though Ring is now under the umbrella of tech giant Amazon, which sells literally everything, they have a pretty interesting backstory themselves. Here are a few fun facts:

  • In 2018, Amazon acquired Ring, bringing their original doorbell camera’s price down to $99.99.1
  • To find out how effective the Ring video doorbells were at preventing burglaries, the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) placed them in one neighborhood and compared burglary rates to a neighborhood without the devices. The former neighborhood had a 50 percent decrease in burglaries, while the latter had no reduction.2
  • Ring’s founder, Jamie Siminoff, pitched the Ring video doorbell, then called the Doorbot, on the hit TV show Shark Tank in 2013. He asked for $700,000 for a 10 percent stake and walked away without a deal.3 By 2018 when Amazon purchased it, the company was worth $1 billion, although Mark Cuban said he’d still pass on the investment.4
