What We Like

What We Don't Like

  • A bit pricey: At $179.99, the new model of Nest Doorbells cost less than the Nest Hello. That’s not to say that it’s the cheapest option on the market though.
  • Nest Aware is required to access all features: We had to pay a month-to-month fee to use most of the doorbell’s key features. This includes event history and facial recognition. With that said, the camera does give you person detection built-in.
  • No local storage: To see our footage after the fact, we had to pay for a Nest Aware plan. The doorbell didn’t have a slot for any type of SD card or USB flash drive.

Bottom Line

Google Nest's take on the video doorbell is nothing short of top-notch. We were notified each time it detected a person. Then, we could see and speak to our visitor through the Nest app.
