When it comes to playing Roblox, or gaming in general, my first choice is usually NordVPN. It strikes a great balance between security and speed, so I know that whoever I’m interacting with online won’t have access to my personal information, and I won’t be at a disadvantage because of any connectivity slowdowns. I like hanging out in Roblox Brookhaven, and since there are tons of users to interact with, I connect to it through NordVPN every time.

Why Use NordVPN for Roblox?

Like I said above, whenever you’re connecting to a large interactive game, you’ll want to take some measures to protect yourself. You never know who you’re interacting with on Roblox, especially in big, collaborative worlds. So whenever I talk about VPN speeds, I always give a bit of a disclaimer. As far as affordability goes, it’s right in the middle. ExpressVPN is one of the more expensive options out there — but word to the wise, it’s worth every penny — and FastestVPN is one of the most affordable VPNs I’ve tested. Surfshark is another VPN favorite of mine. It’s lightweight, it’s speedy, and it offers a huge number of connections for an affordable price. Because of that, I’ve billed them as the best VPN for Roblox creators and developers. Surfshark also works really well across platforms. A lot of VPNs limit the number of connections you can have per subscription — Cyberghost comes to mind — but not so with Surfshark. Their sophisticated server network does not limit bandwidth whatsoever, so the number of devices on one connection won’t impact your speeds.

I’ll save you the speech that I gave you above about how speed is dependent on a crazy amount of factors — including the time of day — and we’ll just get right into it. The long and short is Surfshark is a very fast VPN. Fast enough that I’ve rarely noticed slowdowns significant enough to open up the app to figure out what the heck is going on. Another selling point is that Surfshark is a little cheaper than my first pick, NordVPN, when you sign up for a longer subscription term. Surfshark One — the one I use — will save you about $24 bucks a month over the comparable NordVPN subscription. While NordVPN and Surfshark are both plenty fast to experience uninterrupted Roblox gameplay, Private Internet Access takes things to another level. Not that it has some outrageous capacity for higher speeds or anything — we’re not comparing Hyundais to Lamborghinis here — it’s that PIA lets its users pop the hood and really do some fine-tuning to get the service to function exactly how they want it.

Speed

You can really tune up your PIA experience based on the performance you’re seeing. For example, I’ve used PIA and noticed things slowing down a bit, so I cycled through the protocols offered and switched up my server locations. Generally speaking, IpSec/L2TP and Wireguard are the fastest for me, but I always check the server load of the connection point, too. If you’re looking for numbers, on my last test, my Mac slowed down by about 65% on the download, and my Windows machine took a 15% hit. On upload, it was 30% and 5%, respectively. Barely any latency was picked up on either machine.
